Transitioning to High School
Many students struggle with the transition from eighth to ninth grade. In fact, in previous school years, we have had up to 40% of our tutoring clients enrolled in ninth grade. Specifically, the Geophysical Science course commonly creates challenges for the new-to-high-school students. In middle school, science is commonly more experiential. Starting in high school, expectations of students change. Students are tasked with learning on their own, utilizing online technologies to complete lessons, and completing online labs and experiments. Geophysical Science students are also expected to stay organized and manage a self-paced, hybrid learning environment. Many ninth graders face a new challenge of building up their organization and self-reliant skills. The majority of your student's Geophysical Science grade is comprised of completion of classwork, but the classwork requires use of various online learning tools that sometimes can be tricky.
